Conroe ISD board of trustees approved the names of new campuses opening from 2026-27 at its June 17 board meeting.

The gist

School board members approved the names of three schools to be in honor of former educators Kacy Arnold, Janene Fowler and Lynn Cartwright. The schools are part of the district’s $1.9 billion 2023 bond package.
  • The new elementary in the Grand Oaks feeder zone will be named after Kacy Arnold
  • The new intermediate in the Conroe and Timber Mill feeder zones will be named after Janene Fowler
  • The new junior high in the Conroe and Timber Mill feeder zones will be named after Lynn Cartwright
The decision came after the district underwent its naming process, including submissions from the public, as well as after listening to public comments on the future school names.

Public input
  • “Lynn should be your choice. I lived it with her as a co-teacher, as a fellow CISD teacher and friend. My eye-to-eye experiences, firsthand experiences aren't hearsay. Now look up at this angel and say ‘Lynn, you deserve this,’” Susie Wallace said in the public comment portion of the June 17 meeting.
  • “Everyone who knew her described her as selfless, kind and unwavering in her commitment to go above and beyond. In everything I learned about Kacy, one thing is clear: she left a lasting impact on this district and the lives of so many,” board President Misty Odenweller said about Kacy Arnold.
