Willis ISD officials will host a communitywide presentation about the district’s upcoming November bond election Oct. 7, according to an Oct. 1 Facebook post.

During the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to hear about WISD’s growth, the development of the bond, the proposed projects and the tax impact, among other things, according to the Facebook post.

What you need to know

At their Aug. 19 meeting, WISD trustees called for a $115.4 million bond issue to appear on the Nov. 5 ballot, Community Impact previously reported. There will be three propositions for voters to consider:
  • Proposition A: $27 million for a student activity center
  • Proposition B: $68.8 million for an athletic complex and stadium with community room
  • Proposition C: $19.6 million for an aquatic center
These three propositions previously appeared on the ballot during the May election and were not approved by WISD voters, according to prior reporting. In May, the:
  • Proposition for a new athletic complex and stadium failed with 2,208, or 52.53% of voters in opposition and 1,995 voters, or 47.47% in favor.
  • Proposition for the aquatic center failed with 2,264 votes, or 53.97% of voters opposing it, and 1,931, or 46.03% of voters in favor of it.
  • Proposition for a student activity center failed with 2,215 votes against, or 52.94%, and 1,969 votes in favor, or 47.06%.
