- January: The candidate assumes the superintendent position.
MISD is looking to hire a new superintendent following the resignation of Heath Morrison in July, who served as superintendent since July 2020.
- Morrison's last day with the district was July 31. He resigned from MISD to serve as CEO of Teachers of Tomorrow, a national organization, effective Aug. 1.
- The board appointed Amy Busby, assistant superintendent of student services and innovation, as interim superintendent, effective Aug. 1, during a July 18 special meeting.
- The board last conducted a superintendent search in 2020.
"We believe that the position of superintendent of Montgomery ISD will be highly desired by educational leaders, with individuals applying that have strong experience and significant qualifications," Board President Laurie Turner said in the letter. "We acknowledge that the selection of the next MISD superintendent is an important responsibility, and we are committed to the process laid out before us."
