What you need to know
According to a news release Aug. 7, the Academy of Lifelong Learning encourages adults age 50 and older to continue their education and personal enrichment. Open houses will provide information on course offerings, membership benefits and social activities as well as a chance to speak with instructors and tour the campus.
- The program includes free or low-cost classes on a variety of topics.
- Most classes are one to two hours long.
- Courses include subjects on technology, health, wellness, financial planning, literature and community service projects.
- Membership to the Academy of Lifelong Learning is $25 per semester.
- Members can access all Lone Star College libraries and receive discounts on plays, concerts and musicals.
“We are thrilled to showcase our unique program and all it has to offer at our open house event," Program Coordinator Steve Gorman said in the news release. “The Academy for Lifelong Learning is a fantastic way for seniors over the age of 50 to meet new friends, pick up new skills, and learn about finance, history, science, cooking, and other topics. It is a great deal for only $25 a year.”
