One of two educators in Texas to be selected, Montgomery High School’s choir director was granted the 2023 Choral Excellence Award from the Texas Choral Directors Association, according to an Aug. 1 news release from Montgomery ISD.

The specifics

Heather Orr was presented the award in July for her contributions to choral singing and mentoring students, according to the release.
  • Orr has been leading the MHS choir for 23 years and has almost three decades of experience as a high school choir director.
“Receiving the Choral Excellence Award was a wonderful surprise,” Orr said in the release. “I am honored to be recognized by such an incredible organization and delighted to receive this prestigious award. It is such a privilege to do this work every day, and I share this award with the remarkably talented students who lend their voices to our choir programs at MHS.”
