After long-time Willis ISD Trustee Rebecca Broussard announced she would be vacating Position 7 effective June 2 at a May 11 school board meeting, the WISD Board of Trustees, excluding Broussard, selected Chad Jones to fill the position at its May 31 special meeting, according to a June 1 announcement from the district.

At the May 31 meeting, the board of trustees accepted Broussard’s resignation and interviewed seven applicants.

“I am excited to contribute my talents and proficiency in teamwork toward the board,” Jones said in a statement from the district. “I have spent years supporting Willis ISD programs, and this is a wonderful opportunity to continue to serve the students of Willis ISD.”

Wayne Mack, Montgomery County Precinct 1 justice of the peace, will swear in Jones at the board’s June 8 special meeting at 5 p.m. prior to the regular meeting, according to the announcement.
