Sam Kurti said he moved from New York to Montgomery in 2022 after working in the limousine business for over 30 years to fulfill his dream of opening a restaurant.

In December 2023, Kurti opened Dulcino's Italian Steakhouse in Conroe to offer the community a quality and affordable steakhouse alongside Italian dishes.

Meet the team

Kurti said the Dulcino's Italian Steakhouse building was previously a different steakhouse operated by another team. Since the opening, Kurti has hired a new team for the restaurant including marketing agent Kailee Ingram, chef Jairo Ramirez and an entire new staff.

“I have been in different types of businesses, but opening a restaurant was always kind of my dream,” Kurti said. ”It took me 30 years, and here we are now living the dream.”

As a native of Montenegro in southeastern Europe, Kurti said while his favorite dish is steak, he decided to incorporate Italian cuisine into his restaurant due to his appreciation for Italian foods and to offer a variety of dishes for the entire family to enjoy.

With his restaurant, Kurti strives to provide an intimate ambiance with dim lighting for family gatherings. The restaurant offers dining services as well as two private rooms that can be reserved with no reservation fee.

Craving steak?

Focusing on offering quality affordable steak cuts, Dulcino's Italian Steakhouse offers prime meats including New York steak, rib-eye, porterhouse, sirloin and filet mignon from locally sourced vendors, Kurti said.

To further create a welcoming atmosphere, Kurti said he spends a majority of his time at the restaurant getting to know his customers and attempts to be accessible to the community rather than work behind the scenes.

“We want [customers] to be a part of our family and to come back and grow with us,” Ingram said. “I think that's really important for us, and that that kind of stand sets us apart because it's a personal touch, rather than a commercialized feel.”

After operating as a dinner establishment for a year, Kurti said he plans to expand the restaurant hours to offer lunch as well as on-site catering.
