A new independent bookstore has opened in Montgomery, co-owner Sydney Walker said.

Co-owned by mother-daughter duo Sydney and Gretchen Walker, The Dusted Shelf Bookstore is now open, Sydney Walker said.

The shop sells tabletop games, apparel, bookmarks, T-shirts, tumblers, hats and more, Sydney said.

The bookstore offers a variety of genres, including fantasy, sci-fi, romance, mystery, thriller, general fiction and classic literature.

Sydney Walker is hoping to build and grow a community that allows book clubs to meet at the store and writers to work in a creative environment. She also wants to host community events like poetry slams, local author book readings and more. The Walkers also hope to add children's books and graphic novels to their catalog.
