Operated by Angie Miller, Slice of Amish offers customers a unique shopping experience with Amish and Wisconsin cheese, smoked meats and locally made products.

The shop opened in Montgomery in August 2022 and is a general store that specializes in Wisconsin cheese made with cow and goat milk free of hormones and additives.

What’s special about it?

Miller said Slice of Amish started with 44 varieties of Wisconsin cheese and now offers over 64. The cheese shop offers samples of its cheeses to give customers a chance to try the shop's cheeses before buying, Miller said.

“This is the perfect spot to build your own charcuterie board,” Miller said. “I love it when people try the cheese and they appreciate the taste. Of course, some people try and they're like, ‘Ooh, that's not my favorite.’ And I'm like, ‘That's why I have you try it first.’”

Popular cheeses include Amish butter cheese, ghost pepper cheese, Carolina reaper cheddars and Mediterranean sunset cheddar made with kalamata olives.

What else?

Slice of Amish also offers seasonal smoked meats from Wisconsin and locally made products including soaps, candles, soups and egg noodles as well as Blue Bell ice cream and coffee.

In addition to its products, Slice of Amish partners with local businesses for events such as wine tastings with cheese with Bar & Vines, Halloween trick or treating and street dances.

“We absolutely support everybody down here, the goal is to get people down here to make our downtown fun and to keep our small businesses alive,” Miller said.

After operating for over two years, Slice of Amish plans to continue to expand its cheese selection and welcomes any Wisconsin cheese requests from customers.
