A June 9 report by Montgomery County Public Health District brought both somber and positive news.

The county confirmed two additional deaths related to coronavirus, bringing the death count to 40, according to a daily case count by the county health district. A woman in her 70s from Spring and a man in his 70s from Willis died in the hospital. Both had comorbidities in addition to testing positive for COVID-19.

However, the number of active cases decreased by 32 from July 8 to July 9, falling for the third day in a row.
The seven-day new case average is beginning to fall, as shown in the last graph.

Hospitalizations of county residents rose by 4. There were 122 recoveries, and the total case count rose by 92, bringing the total to 2,876.

There are 221 COVID-19 patients in Montgomery Count hospitals, a decrease of 6 from July 8. Of these, 51 are in ICU beds, and 170 are in general beds.
