Brazos County Commissioners Court is set to approve the county's policy and guidelines for artificial intelligence use, along with various construction projects and repairs at its June 23 meeting.

The court is looking to implement a strategy on AI use with county information and resources. According to the agenda material, the strategy hopes to accomplish the following:
- Ensure county data is protected from unauthorized access, use, or exposure
- Reduce reputational risk by providing a framework for the responsible, ethical and transparent use of AI within county processes
- Maximize the benefits of AI while minimizing the risk to internal county business
- Protect employee and resident data
Per agenda material, the county is concerned with privacy and data protection, as well as accountability and transparency in its use in official business. Any person using AI tools for official county business would also be unable to name the county in those tools.
