Brazos County Commissioners Court will take up several infrastructure, public safety and administrative items during its April 7 regular meeting, including a major courthouse annex contract and multiple utility projects.
What you need to know
Commissioners are expected to consider the approval of a $660,000 agreement with Dudley Engineering for construction materials testing on the Brazos County Courthouse Annex project. At the March 24 court meeting, commissioners approved a construction contract in the amount of $59 million for the annex.
County leaders will also review several infrastructure-related requests, including:
- Utility permits connected to a 30-inch water transmission project
- This project is led by Wellborn Special Utility District and expands across multiple county roads in Precinct 1.
- A Comcast permit to install conduit infrastructure within the Winding Creek Estates subdivision roadways
- Installation of 10 power poles along Leonard Road in Bryan
- This project is meant to expand electrical service in the area.
- A gas line connection permit tied to a Precinct 4 oil well project
Also on the agenda
Commissioners will consider committing Local Provider Participation Fund money to support the Aligning Technology by Linking Interoperable Systems for Client Health Outcome program, aimed at improving health data coordination.
The court will also vote on:
- Renaming the county’s specialty court program, effective Sept. 1
- Participating with Bryan and College Station in the federal Byrne Justice Assistance Grant program for the sheriff’s office to use a portion of the award to buy physical training equipment
Additional agenda items include:
- Property insurance renewal through the Texas Association of Counties
- Budget amendments and personnel status changes
- Acceptance of a $500 donation from Insurors of Texas to buy necessities for the June 4 Health & Safety Expo
The meeting also includes executive session discussions on real estate matters and the county’s economic development coordinator position.
