After nearly 52 years in business, College Station women’s boutique Charli closed its doors May 31.
About Charli
Founded in 1974, the store became a longtime fixture in Aggieland, serving generations of customers through milestones including proms, weddings and first dates, according to Charli.
Owner Charli Light announced the closure in early May, saying she was ready to spend more time with her grandchildren.
“Charli has been so blessed with 52 years success,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “All the moments and relationships you shared with me, proms, weddings, first dates... memories of a lifetime.”

The boutique celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024, when the mayors of Bryan and College Station proclaimed July 12 as “Charli Light Day” in recognition of Light’s contributions to the community.
