Home decor and furnishings consultation chain West Elm will open a store in Rice Village in summer 2021, according to a Dec. 8 announcement.

The Brooklyn-based global design company will open an 11,502-square-foot location at 2501 University Blvd., Houston, the former location of Urban Outfitters. The store will offer decor and consultation services to Houstonians.

“At Rice Village we’re constantly aiming to usher in brands that will create a differentiated experience for our community and an immensely unique offering to Houston’s inner loop,” said Morgan Lera, senior investment associate of Rice Management Company, in the release. “By bringing distinctive brands like West Elm, which echoes many of our standards, into Rice Village, we’re pushing ourselves to evolve and grow, as Houston does.”

The announcement comes on the heels of several other openings within Rice Village, including Sixty Vines, Face Haus, Madison Reed Color Bar and MYX Blend Bar. www.westelm.com
