Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Bellaire, at 5314 Dashwood Dr. Suite 100, Houston, will be closing its doors as early as April 25 and laying off 126 employees.

CHG Hospital Houston made the announcement in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) letter to the Texas Workforce Commission on Feb. 25.

The act protects workers, families, and communities by requiring employers with 100 or more employees to provide at least 60 calendar days advance written notice of a facility closing and layoff affecting more 50 or more employees, according to the U.S. Department of Labor website.

The hospital’s parent company, Cornerstone Healthcare Group, is a Dallas-based company founded in 1990 that has 27 locations across the country with three services: specialty hospitals, senior living and behavioral health. The Bellaire hospital is one of two Houston hospitals owned by the group, the other, Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Houston Medical Center, at 1300 Binz St. Third floor, Houston.
