Harris County Precinct 4 officials and Commissioner Lesley Briones are preparing to host public town hall meetings throughout late July and early August in order to gather community input on the county’s fiscal year 2025-26 budget.

During these meetings, which are occurring both virtually and in-person, community members can weigh in on how the county’s tax dollars are being spent, as well as hear about various precinct initiatives, according to the event flyer.

The projections

Harris County commissioners are looking at potential countywide cuts to address a $130 million budget shortfall in the upcoming 2025-26 fiscal year. Briones’ motion to request county departments to adjust their current level of spending from 93% to 90% was approved unanimously by commissioners at a May 22 court meeting.
