West University City Council approved an ordinance granting an architectural and engineering design contract for a new public works campus.

Part of the ordinance included amending the city’s 2021-22 budget, allocating $662,000 toward design costs.

The new campus is part of the city’s larger facilities master plan, which kicked off in June 2021.

The design firm, Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville Inc., was hired to work on the master plan with city staff, unveiling project drafts at a council meeting Dec. 13, and holding Town Hall meetings April 5 and 7 to garner public feedback.

A timeline of the master plan estimates designs to be complete at the end of 2022 and construction to begin in summer 2023.
