The overview
Tour de Houston is a cycling marathon event that offers Houstonians and visitors a unique way to view the city with bike routes passing through historical neighborhoods.
This year's event on April 13 features three distance options for cyclists of all skill levels, from families to casual riders and hardcore cyclists.
The annual bike ride will start and finish at Discovery Green Green and Avenida Plaza in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center. The ride will travel through Downtown Houston, Memorial Park, Tanglewood, Piney Point Village, Bunker Hill Village and Briar Forest to Highway 6 before returning to downtown.
The three route options include:
- The 10-mile family route: suited for riders of all ages and ability levels. It will have riders circle back to downtown from Memorial Park. The start time is 8 a.m.
- A 20-mile intermediate route: catered to experienced riders and fitness enthusiasts. Riders will continue west and turn around in Tanglewood. The start time is 8:30 a.m.
- The 45-mile ride is ideal for riders preparing for the Texas MS 150, a two-day 150-mile cycling event. Start time is 9 a.m.
