July 4: Celebrate Independence Day

The city of Bellaire will host its Independence Day parade, which includes the Children's Bike Parade. After the parade, the festival will take place, which includes music; food; and entertainment for the kids, such as a petting zoo, inflatables and face painting.

July 11-Sept. 17: Check out a new health exhibit

Trillions of microbes make their homes inside human bodies and a new exhibit aims to introduce guests to the complex world inside humans. Guests at the new interactive exhibit “Zoo in You” can learn about microbial companions, where they live and what ways scientists are discovering how important they are to personal health.

July 11-Aug. 6: Watch a kid-friendly summer musical

The return of the original summer musical production “Power Up: The Musical!” is taking place all month long. The storyline is about a kid named Ollie who spends time playing a retro-inspired video game, discovering new challenges and achievements along the way.

July 13: Attend a career fair



More than 80 employers with more than 3,500 job vacancies will be at the city of Houston’s sixth annual Career Fair. Interviews are for part-time, full-time and internship positions. Applicants are encouraged to bring their resume and ID. Free COVID-19 vaccines and boosters will be administered by the Houston Health Department, and the Harris County Election Board will be on-site to register voters.

July 13: Cheer on a cardboard boat race

The city of Bellaire is having its second annual Cardboard Boat Regatta, which is a race with boats or paddles made entirely from cardboard. Participants make boats using only cardboard and duct tape prior to the event, board their boats in the pool and race to the finish line. Awards will be given to first to third places as well as categories including Most Creative, Best Costume and Most Dramatic Sinking.

July 13-14: Participate in an annual girls tech hackathon

A two-day event centered to help high school and college young women learn how to build a tech company and pitch their project ideas is taking place. The “Dream Big on the Blockchain” Hackathon allows participants to work with mentors and gain valuable skills in blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, machine learning and entrepreneurship. Prizes will be awarded.

July 14, 28: Enjoy barbecue and country music

Goode Co. Armadillo Palace is hosting multiple country artists this summer. Guests are invited to enjoy the live music and food, such as queso, chicken skewers and green chile empanadas. For July 14, Tyler Halverson will perform, and for July 28, Dale Watson will perform.
