Nov. 5: Celebrate urban life

Join Rice University’s Moody Center for the Arts for Urban Nights: A Communal Art Experience, an outdoor presentation of food, dance, music, spoken word and art installations. Organized in conjunction with the exhibition “Urban Impressions: Experiencing the Global Contemporary Metropolis,” this event celebrates urban life as experienced through the visual and performing arts. 6-10 p.m. Free. Nov. 6: Listen to an orchestra

Experience a concert by the Texas Medical Center Orchestra at the Hobby Center. Nov. 12: Shop an arts and crafts festival

The city of Bellaire hosts the Bellaire Arts and Crafts Festival at Paseo Park. Enjoy a day of preholiday festivities with food vendors, kids activities and live music while getting a jump on holiday shopping with over 80 artisans. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Free. Nov. 12: Support a children's hospital

Shriners Hospitals for Children will celebrate 100 years with its Celebration of the Century event at Minute Maid Park. Guests will take the field and enjoy an upscale dinner and entertainment from country music star Dierks Bentley. The evening will raise funds to support Shriners Hospitals for Children. 5 p.m. $500+. Nov. 12: See a tribute concert

Step back in time to experience the story of Journey’s rise to international fame with Classic Journey Live at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The tribute will replicate Journey’s distinctive clothes, hairstyles, lights, musical gear, stage, vocals and sounds. The show will feature video excerpts of interviews and performances from the members of Journey. 7-9 p.m. Free. Nov. 12-13: Attend a music festival

Listen to electronic dance music, rap and hip-hop music at Houston’s We Are One Music & Arts Festival. Headliners include Alison Wonderland, DaBaby, Gucci Mane, Martin Garrix and Tiesto. In addition, the festival will include live mural activations. Nov. 19: Run for pie

Celebrate Thanksgiving early with Houston Running Co.’s Great Houston Pie Run 5K, 10K and Kid’s K. Participants will receive a shirt, a finishers medal and pie.
