Chefs will be invited to the ceremony to discover whether their restaurants have received a Michelin Star or another Michelin Guide distinction, according to the release.

“Last year marked a milestone for the Texas restaurant industry, and we’re excited to continue celebrating the state’s exceptional culinary talent at this year’s ceremony,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide.

To assess the quality of a restaurant, the inspectors apply five criteria defined by Michelin, including:
  • Product quality
  • Mastery of cooking techniques
  • Harmony of flavors
  • Personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine
  • Consistency over time and across the entire menu
The details

Per the release, the Michelin Guide is recognized globally for excellence and quality and boasts a selection of world-class restaurants.

Designations awarded include:
  • One, two and three Michelin Stars: awarded to establishments serving exceptional cuisine that’s rich in flavor, remarkably executed and infused with the personality of a talented chef
  • The Bib Gourmand: awarded to select restaurants that offer quality food at a good value
  • The Michelin Green Star: awarded to restaurants that are pioneers in sustainable gastronomy
Recommended restaurants and special professional awards are also highlighted by the Michelin Guide inspectors.

The history

First published in France at the turn of the 20th century, the Michelin Guide is a reliable source for any traveler seeking an unforgettable meal and hospitality experience, according to the release.

The guide has progressively specialized in restaurant and hotel recommendations, and Michelin’s inspectors still use the same criteria and manner of selection that were used by the inspectors in the beginning.
