Hospitality expert Will Felder and Chef Kristi Courtney have collaborated to create Tago, a Tulum-inspired restaurant that merges modern Latin cuisine with a vibrant nightlife scene and immersive design in Houston's Midtown.

At a glance

According to a June 25 news release, the interior of the 4,500 square foot restaurant will feature a rich color palette and tropical greenery. The bar, designed to emulate the feeling of a hidden cenote, will be surrounded by glowing lanterns and accompanied by rhythmic music.

Meanwhile, the 2,700 square foot outdoor patio will channel a beach club atmosphere, with sand-toned furniture and an open-air feel. After 9 p.m., the patio will transform into a nightlife destination with a live DJ and dancers, per the release.

On the menu

Chef Kristi Courtney, a Houston resident, but native of Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, will lead the culinary experience at Tago, balancing tradition and innovation with Latin flavors and a Houston twist. According to the release, the summer menu will feature light options such as:
  • charred poblano guacamole
  • citrusy ceviche mixto
  • Pato en Mole Chocolate
  • Mushroom Risotto
Shareable options will include flautas de papa y carne, grilled quail in mole, a summer watermelon mix green salad and tuna and arroz.
The kitchen will serve the full dining menu until 11 p.m., followed by a curated late-night small bites menu available until last call at 1:30 a.m. (Courtesy Eira House)
