Officials at Ojo de Agua announced the anticipated opening of the new Mexico City-born casual dining concept in the Texas Medical Center in October.

Officials touted that the 3,400-square-foot space had a tentative opening date in 2025; however, according to a project filing by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new location is slated for an early 2026 opening.

What we know

According to TDLR, construction is expected to start next month on July 7, with an estimated completion date of March 2. Details are subject to change.

Ojo de Agua serves authentic Mexican and Mediterranean dishes, along with a beverage program that includes made-to-order juices, smoothies, teas, coffees and cocktails. According to the original October news release, featured items at the restaurant will include Swiss enchiladas, mahi mahi, burrata pancakes, birria tacos and cauliflower mole octopus.

Something to note

Private dining spaces can be rented for group gatherings or parties at the restaurant. Ojo de Agua will also offer full-service offsite catering to the medical center community and Houston-area businesses.
