Representatives for Toronto-based eatery Meltwich confirmed the restaurant will open its first Texas location in Houston's Rice Village neighborhood this fall.

Meltwich signed a lease for a 1,400-square-foot space at the intersection of Rice Boulevard and Kelvin Drive in summer 2023, Community Impact previously reported.

The fast-casual restaurant specializes in grilled cheese and poutine, according to its website. There are several locations throughout Canada but only five restaurants in the United States.

On the menu


Meltwich offers customizable grilled cheese sandwiches and burgers, including The Grilly Steak, the restaurant's version of a Philly cheese steak served on grilled cheese burger buns. The restaurant currently utilizes seven different types of cheese.

Other menu items include loaded fries, plant-based meals, macaroni and cheese bites, chicken wings and milkshakes, according to the website.
