The team behind Trill Burgers announced in an Aug. 28 news release the opening of their next fast-casual concept, Trill Tenders.

What to expect

The first Trill Tenders will be located at University of Houston's TDECU Stadium at Section 138, alongside the newest location of Trill Burgers, per the release. Both eateries will serve food at their co-branded concession stand during UH's home football games this fall.

The Trill Tenders combo will include three chicken tenders with "Soy OG" and "Pink OG" dipping sauces and Cajun crinkle cut fries. Each combo will be served in a special scarlet red UH-branded package, per the release.

The background

Chefs Mike Pham and Fernando Valladares created Trill Tenders after being invited to compete in Los Angeles’ Tenderfest in October 2023, per the release.

Trill Tenders made its Houston debut at the Houston Texans’ Taste of the Texans charity event in November and hosted a pop-up at NRG Stadium before a Texans home game in December.

Quote of note

Founded in Houston, the Trill Burgers concept is led by rapper Bernard Freeman, known as Bun B, along with restaurateur Andy Nguyen, Scurfield Group founder Nick Scurfield and chefs Pham and Valladares.

Freeman said in the release that the TDECU Stadium was the perfect spot for the first location of the Trill Tenders concept.

“My wife Queenie is from Third Ward, and we’re thrilled to bring Trill Tenders and Trill Burgers to Cougar fans as they embark on a new era under coach Willie Fritz," Freeman said. "Go Coogs!”
