After winning a Houston-based breakfast contest June 26, owners with the Bellaire eatery Dandelion Cafe will head to New York City on June 30 for the next round of the "United States of Breakfast" contest hosted by ABC's "Good Morning America."

Co-owned by JC Ricks and Sarah Lieberman, Dandelion Cafe has been serving in-house, made-from-scratch breakfast and brunch favorites since 2016, when it opened as a coffee shop. The cafe was awarded the win by a panel of "Good Morning America" judges over another Houston breakfast favorite—The Breakfast Klub. Dandelion was given the nod by two of the three judges.

Dandelion Cafe won the first round by preparing a chicken and waffles plate that featured a cornbread waffle topped with 24-hour marinated crispy chicken thighs and a homemade spicy butter.

Ricks and Lieberman will compete against chefs from three other cities as the competition continues June 30, including Cleveland, Boston and Philadelphia. In addition to the exposure, the winner will receive a $10,000 prize.

Dandelion Cafe can be found at 5405 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire. "Good Morning America" will air from 7-9 a.m. June 30.
