What we know

A project filed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on June 10 shows that a new Body Fit Training, or BFT, location is slated for West University Place along Bissonnet Street.

Construction is anticipated to start on the 2,281-square-foot facility in late August and wrap up in late November; however, details are subject to change. An ancillary retail area for products to be displayed and sold is also included at the location.

Google Maps shows that the former building, leased by The Blue Ox Group, used to be the site of Tony K's, a liquor store.

More details

According to a flyer from The Blue Ox Group, the property, along with 2710 Bissonnet St., is part of a retail and office redevelopment. A site plan on Loopnet, an online marketplace for commercial property, confirms the new space for Body Fit Training.

The site plan also shows that an adjacent space is planned for a second location of By Popular Demand, a neighborhood bar and grill located off Memorial Drive in Houston. However, details have not yet been confirmed by Community Impact on the new bar, and details were not available on TDLR as of June 11.
