Described as a dream come true, Beauty Shop Bellaire owner Ashley Nadon opened her own brick-and-mortar shop in October 2022 that combined her 15-plus years working on the corporate side of a luxury beauty brand with her passion for building a retail community in Bellaire.

"I live in Bellaire, my kids go to school in Bellaire, and I love the community. But I've always been really interested in different brands that are innovating in different ways," Nadon said.

What's special about it?

She said she enjoys supporting independent brands that really listen to customers and create products that are different from the mass market or even luxury market. Brands that are also values-based, she said, are a big plus.

"It's values for their skin, like clean-beauty or organic or ingredient-driven, or values in social lives, like giving back to causes that they care about or creating sustainable packaging," Nadon said.

Customers can choose between products focused on personal hygiene to makeup. The products range from body, skin, hair, makeup and wellness items—for both men and women. Nadon said the best part of the business is interacting with people.

"I really felt like Bellaire is a great place with a community of people who really care about what they're putting on their skin and what products they're using, and care about what their daughters will use as they get into skin care and makeup. And so I just wanted to do something right here that would help people find brands that align with their values," she said.

"I try to encourage people to make thoughtful purchases," she said.

Going forward

Nadon said she looks forward to creating more community-centered events at her shop and bringing to the table more eco-centric brands that might not be on everyone's radar.
