Since the beginning of 2023, a number of new businesses have joined the list of shops and restaurants at Rice Village in Houston. The southwest Houston shopping district that first opened in 1938 and offered mom-and-pop stores, quirky variety stores and deli shops has since revamped not only its architecture and landscaping, but also its list of brands and tenants.

Here are the four new businesses that visitors can check out in February:
  1. A new location of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee opened Jan. 14 at 2367 Rice Blvd., Houston. The North Carolina-based company, founded in 2016 by Ben and Amy Wright, sells a variety of coffee options as well as apparel, drink ware and accessories, according to its website. www.bittyandbeauscoffee.com
  2. Chinese American takeout restaurant The Rice Box opened its fourth Houston location Jan. 21. The restaurant—located at 5504 Morningside Drive, Houston—offers modern Chinese American cuisine that includes classic dishes. www.riceboxed.com
  3. [Solidcore] is preparing to open the doors to its strength-training studio Feb. 11. The studio, located at 2411 Times Blvd., Houston, will be the company’s third Houston location. 832-956-0654. www.solidcore.co
