The details
Meow Wolf is an arts production company that creates immersive, multimedia exhibits that often feature their signature kaleidoscopic art. The Santa Fe-based company has locations around the country, including New Mexico, Nevada, California, Denver and Texas.
The first Texas exhibit opened in July 2023 with the debut of Meow Wolf Grapevine. The company announced in May 2022 that it would also open a Houston location later in 2024. On Sept. 10, the company announced the official grand opening is set for Oct. 31.
“Houston is a powerhouse of creativity, and our artists and collaborators have been channeling that electric energy into this exhibition for years,” Meow Wolf CEO Jose Tolosa said. “They've taken it to the next level, capturing the city's vibrancy in every corner of the experience."
General public ticket sales open Oct. 1, with presale tickets available Sept. 24. Residents can also purchase the Houston Portal Passes, an annual season pass, as early as Sept. 17.
Did you know?
Each Meow Wolf location features a unique theme crafted by a variety of different artists from the Meow Wolf team and local communities in the state. Houston's theme? Radio Tave.
Radio Tave, according to a Sept. 10 news release, is an explorable radio station that is expected to transport guests into another dimension. The exhibit features dozens of rooms designed with a labyrinth of paths, portals and hidden doors, all filled with interactive mysteries for guests to solve. Rooms were designed by more than 100 artists, with over 50 being based in Texas.
"The visuals and soundscapes of Radio Tave are on another level," said Susie Cowan, Meow Wolf senior creative producer. "Visitors will be immersed in a rich, multisensory experience that invites them to explore a world that feels both vast and deeply personal."
The space will also include a cowboy dive bar and restaurant, a venue space and a gift shop.
