League City City Council voted unanimously to approve a combined $2.8 million investment for upgrades to Lobit Park and Newport Park at its Sept. 23 meeting.
The park improvements are scheduled to be completed in early 2026, according to city documents, and include the following improvements:
Lobit Park redevelopment
- Budget: $2.35 million
- Contractor: Houston-based B&D Contractor
- Renovated baseball fields with new dugouts, fencing and lighting
- New pickleball courts
- Pedestrian bridge improvements and new sidewalks
- Water line extensions and drainage upgrades
- Budget: $435,000
- Contractor: Houston-based A-Group Construction
- A new trail system
- LED parking lot lighting upgrades
- Regraded practice field and new volleyball court
- Playground improvements with a new shade structure
