Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, a Columbus, Ohio-based chain, has been quietly serving scoops at its first Houston location at 375 W. 19th St., in the Heights, but has announced a grand opening date of Jan. 9, according to its Facebook page. The chain, known for its rich flavors such as Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks and seasonal specials such as Boozy Eggnog, also distributes ice cream through several retailers, including Whole Foods stores in the Houston area.
