Houston's longest-running organic farmer's co-op, Central City Co-Op, has moved into its new location at 420 E. 20th St., Ste. A, and marked its last day June 11 at Montrose Kindred Church—formerly Grace Lutheran Church—after over 10 years.
"We started looking over a year ago, knowing that if the co-op was going to survive on its own, it needed its own location. ... Then, COVID happened, and the co-op just exploded, and it became essential," said Jessica Wilt Navas, who runs the co-op with her husband, Eric.
The new Heights location—formerly a Steel City Pops location—was already outfitted with cooler space and other fixtures, allowing for a quick move, she said.
"We're hoping this will be permanent. There’s a lot of moving parts affecting the market, but we’re thankful for the opportunity to be here," she said.
