PREVIEW: Harris County commissioners to vote on FY 2025-26 budget

Other cost-saving decisions commissioners and more than 80 department leaders identified included finding at least 10% in potential cost saving opportunities within their current level of services to address the shortfall in the FY 2025-26 budget, county officials said.

Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones released a statement on the budget Sept. 10.

“I’m proud we delivered a balanced budget that protects core services, without having to ask hardworking women and men to vote on raising their taxes,” Briones said.

On the agenda, Harris County’s voter approval and no-new-revenue property tax rates will be discussed among commissioners.

• The current voter-approval tax rate is $0.3774 per $100 of valuation
• The no-new-revenue tax rate is $0.3809 per $100 of valuation
