Three Houston ISD schools have been recognized with a National Blue Ribbon Schools award this year, the district announced Sept. 24.
Memorial Elementary, the High School for Law and Justice and the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy are all first-time recipients and are among 26 schools nominated in Texas.
“We are humbled and inspired to win a Blue Ribbon Award,” Memorial Principal Maria Garcia said in a news release. “We owe this award to a fantastic staff, outstanding students, and great parents and community support.”
The Blue Ribbon program recognizes schools across the nation. Memorial Elementary was recognized for its efforts to close achievement gaps, according to the TEA, while HSLJ and YWCPA were recognized for academic achievement.
