Three positions are open on the Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees, however, only one position is contested. Trustees John Ogletree, Position 5, and Bob Covey, Position 7, are running unopposed and will retain their positions for another four-year term.

Natalie Blasingame, who has lived in Cy-Fair for 16 years, will contest Incumbent Don Ryan's Position 6 seat on the board. She has been an educator for 25 years and currently serves as an assistant superintendent in Houston ISD. Blasingame said her top priorities are addressing the student achievement gap and improving parent engagement. Don Ryan, who has lived in Cy-Fair for 45 years, has served on the board for 17 years. He said his top priorities include equitable funding, school safety and maintaining competitive salaries and benefits. All four candidates are expected to attend a public forum at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.

Early voting is Oct. 23-Nov. 3, and Election Day is Nov. 7.
