UPDATE: In House District 45, GOP nomination goes to Ken Strange; Democratic runoff to be held


State Rep. District 45

In the race to replace State Rep. Jason Isaac, R-Dripping Springs, Ken Strange becomes the Republican nominee while Rebecca Bell-Metereau and Erin Zwiener will face off in a runoff May 22.

Isaac’s seat is being vacated because he is running to replace outgoing U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith in District 21. The 45th district spans Hays County, including the cities of San Marcos, Buda, Kyle, Dripping Springs and Wimberley.

Democratic candidates

Rebecca Bell-Metereau: 5,133 or 45.40 percent of the vote.
Erin Zweiner: 3,466 or 30.66 percent of the vote.
Les Carnes: 2,705 or 23.92 percent of the vote.

Republican candidates

Ken Strange: 7,257 or 54.73 percent of the vote.
Amber Pearce: 3,233 or 24.38 percent of the vote.
Naomi Naraiz: 1,217 or 9.17 percent of the vote.
Austin Talley: 901 or 6.79 percent of the vote.
Amy Akers: 651 or 4.9 percent of the vote
