Ashleigh Casey was appointed the Southlake Police Chief by the Southlake City Council during the June 18 meeting.
She most recently has been the interim police chief since the promotion of James Brandon from chief to assistant city manager on May 7. Brandon joined the city in 2013 and was the police chief from 2015-24.
Casey has served as the Assistant Police Chief in Southlake since 2015.
The background
Casey’s career in law enforcement started as a 911 dispatcher and later as a police officer in Euless from 1993-98, according to her LinkedIn page. She joined the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport Department of Public Safety from 1998-2000, before joining Southlake that same year.
She became lieutenant/divisional commander in 2003 and was in that role until her promotion to assistant police chief, according to her LinkedIn page. According to a news release, as the assistant chief, Casey was charged with developing and implementing the department’s strategic vision and managing its $11.5 million budget.
Casey is a graduate of the University of Texas-Arlington.

Casey will be sworn into her new role at 3 p.m. on June 26 at Southlake Department of Public Safety headquarters.
