Grapevine-Colleyville ISD officials to host swim center open house April 9

To help inform district residents about the need for swim center improvements, which is Proposition C on the May 4 bond ballot, GCISD officials are hosting an open house at the facility April 9 that will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The details

Chief Operations Officer Paula Barbaroux said that the swim center, located at 2305 Pool Road in Grapevine, is used six days a week by numerous groups in the GCISD community including:

• Student athletes
• Youth swim teams
• First responders
• Military groups
• Staff for swim lessons
• Residents for lap swim or water aerobics

Barbaroux said that bond packages typically address operational items that have exceeded their useful life or conditions that affect programming or function. Built in 1994, the last major updates to the swim center were part of the 2016 bond package. Improvements in the 2024 bond package include:

• Adding a chloramine evacuation system
• Replacing pool, HVAC and electrical equipment
• Replacing retractable bleachers
• Repairing and painting the ceiling

“This come-and-go swim center open house is an opportunity [for those] who might not be familiar with the facility to learn more about the updates and replacement equipment that are proposed in the GCISD bond as Proposition C,” Superintendent Brad Schnautz said. “We want our community to be informed about the GCISD May 4 bond, and this tour is another opportunity to provide that information.”

GCISD officials have held community bond meetings over the last several weeks as part of their public education effort. The remaining meeting April 16 will be held at Grapevine Middle School, located at 301 Pony Parkway, at 6 p.m.
