Celebrate Southlake event goes virtual this year; schedule to be announced soon

This year, the city of Southlake’s annual Celebrate Southlake event will be hosted virtually from March 21-27.

The annual community event, which started back in 2017, aims to bring together the Southlake community to celebrate cultural diversity. The event, which includes food, music, performances, entertainment and conversation, is usually held in person. However, due to coronavirus concerns, it will be virtual this year.

“We wanted to provide an experience with the health and safety of our community in mind, while still providing memorable events for everyone," Southlake Tourism Manager Cambria Jones said in an email. "The celebration has even been extended to a week so that we can get everything in."

Events this year will focus on learning about Southlake’s history as well as a “Get to Know Your Neighbor” event with a virtual recipe exchange. According to Jones, the Mayor’s Alliance for Unity and Culture will also be sponsoring a community conversation “to spark additional discussions across households, and neighborhoods, to encourage people to come together and get to know each other.”

“One of the most enjoyable parts of past events has been the cultural performances," Jones said. "We are working to bring those to this event in a virtual, yet memorable way."
