A new parks and recreation master plan is underway in Georgetown.
The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department held a virtual public forum May 24, the first step in developing the plan, at which residents gave input on what they would like to see prioritized. The city is working with GreenPlay LLC to develop the plan.
“The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Master Plan will provide a vision for the department and act as a guide for the next 10 years,” GreenPlay Project Manager Dan Seder said. “This community-driven plan will establish a clear direction to guide the department in the growth, development and enhancement of the community’s parks, public spaces, recreation programs, services and facilities.”
During the forum, resident prioritized the following:
- greater focus on pickleball programs and improved pickleball facilities;
- run, walk and bike trails;
- CPR training;
- accessible restrooms;
- outdoor education; and
- facility improvements.
