The City of Georgetown has asked residents in Sun City and Georgetown Village to limit water use Jan. 29 due to a scheduled outage at the Lake Water Treatment Plant.
Residents are asked to not use irrigation systems or sprinklers and limit other water use all day Sunday until midnight. While the treatment plant is offline, the only available water will be in storage tanks, which the Georgetown water utility will fill before the shutdown.
During the outage, construction crews will modify the plant's intake pipes as part of the expansion project that will increase treatment capacity at the plant from 19.6 million gallons per day to 28.6 million. The city expects the project to be completed this summer.
According to a news release from the city, the water utility will have limited ability to get water to the service area that includes Sun City and Georgetown Village in cases of emergency.
