The new facility will also include a wellness center and swimming pool, Spence said.

"Residents of both facilities will be able to flow back and forth, and it will also give them a choice of dining," he said.

Several residents of the Serenada neighborhood located behind the property at Serenada and Williams drives protested the application to rezone the PUD. Neighbors cited possible effects of additional stormwater drainage to their properties as cause for concern, according to city documents.

According to an email sent by city staff to City Manager Paul Brandenburg, drainage studies on the property show drainage meets city requirements, and further study would be completed by Wesleyan developers when submitting the site plan for the property.

The Wesleyan at Estrella is also home to an assisted living and memory care facility with 40 assisted living apartments and 20 secured memory care apartments.
