Georgetown ISD school board members approved new elementary school attendance zones that will go into effect in the 2012–13 school year, as well as a plan to transition Frost Elementary School into a kindergarten through fifth-grade campus.
The district will allow students currently enrolled at elementary campuses impacted by the boundary changes to stay at their current campus if they desire to do so; however, transportation will not be provided for students that choose to be grandfathered into their current campus.
McCoy Elementary School will transition to a full elementary school campus with kindergarten through fifth grade with the opening of the new McCoy campus on Bellaire Boulevard, GISD spokesman Brad Domitrovich said.
As part of the transition for Frost Elementary School, the district will phase in a grade level each year beginning in 2012–13 by adding third grade. In each subsequent year the district will add a grade until fifth grade is added in 2014–15.
