With most precincts reported, Donna Imam takes the win with 55.08% of the vote in the Democratic primary runoff for Texas 31st congressional seat.
Imam received 17,765 votes, while her challenger, Christine Mann, received 14,488, according to the Texas Secretary of State website.
Imam is a progressive candidate with a background in computer engineering. She will face incumbent John Carter, who has been in office since 2003, in the general election Nov. 3.
The Texas 31st congressional district represents Williamson County and parts of Bell County. Williamson County voter turnout was 8.55%, and Bell County voter turnout was 7.38%. In Bell County Imam received 62.6% of the vote, and in Williamson County she received 54.24% of the vote at the time of this publication.
Mann conceded the race via a Tweet thread at 10:16 p.m.

Donna Imam has expanded her lead slightly in the Democratic primary runoff race for the Texas 31st congressional district against Christine Mann.
Imam leads with 52.72% of the vote, according to the Texas Secretary of State website. So far, 26,084 votes have been tallied, it said.

With the first round of precincts reporting, Donna Imam narrowly leads against challenger Christine Mann in the Democratic primary runoff election for Texas 31st congressional seat with 50.96% of the vote, Texas Secretary of State data reports.
So far, Imam has 10,391 votes, and Mann has 9,996 votes.
The winner will face incumbent John Carter in the general election Nov. 3. Carter has been in office since 2003.
The Texas 31st congressional district represents Williamson County and parts of Bell County.
All polls closed at 7 p.m., and more polling stations have yet to return official results.
Election night results are always unofficial until they are canvassed by the county clerk. Voters who elected to receive a ballot by mail will have their vote tallied as long as their ballot was received by July 14, not merely postmarked, the Williamson County Elections website said.
There were no Republican primary runoff elections scheduled in Williamson County.
