Ahead of the grand opening of the new Williamson County Administration Building on July 14, county employees and officials began moving their operations into the facility this month.
The building is located at 1848 Texas Trail in Georgetown, and will house several county departments, including all of the offices currently operating out of the historic courthouse.
What’s happening
The county received a Certificate of Occupancy for the building this week. The legal department, county manager’s office and risk management office have already begun their transition into the new administration building.
The following departments will move in according to the following schedule:
- June 10: county auditor’s office
- June 15: public affairs office and treasurer's office
- June 16: budget office and county judge’s office
- June 22-24: Georgetown tax office
- June 25: purchasing office
- June 26: county clerk’s office
Something to note
The tax office in Georgetown will be closed to the public during its move. Residents can utilize tax services in Williamson County offices in Cedar Park, Round Rock or Taylor from June 22-24.
The county clerk’s research library will remain closed through the end of June.
Some context
The 120,000-square-foot facility is located on an 170-acre tract of land near Southwestern Boulevard and SE Inner Loop, and cost approximately $90 million.
Construction on the building began in spring 2024. By moving several county operations into the new facility, officials hope to address space constraints marked by a growing county, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
