A garden show, film festival and Fiesta Georgetown are just some of the events taking place in Georgetown in September and early October. This list is not comprehensive.
Labor Day Weekend Sidewalk Sale
During this annual event, businesses throughout downtown Georgetown run specials and deals to celebrate the end of summer, and make way for fall and holiday merchandise. A list of participating businesses is available on the Visit Georgetown website.
British Scones Workshop
Lulu’s Pie Shoppe will host the workshop where attendees will make and take a batch of British-style scones and mock clotted cream. The recipe and jam are provided.
9.11 Service Day
Volunteers will gather for an opening service before heading to their service site for 1.5 to 2 hours of work. They will reconvene for lunch, community and celebration. The event is sponsored by several community organizations including The Georgetown Project, Georgetown Rotary Club and Georgetown Ministerial Alliance.
K-9 Kerplunk
This end-of-summer pool party at the Georgetown Recreation Center is just for pups. The event has three different time slots to accommodate dogs of differing sizes. Dogs must have a current rabies vaccination and be accompanied by a human age 16 or older.
Fiesta Georgetown
Hosted by The Georgetown Project, the event celebrates and honors Hispanic heritage and culture. The nonprofit organization aims to build a healthier community for all youth and children.
Austin Museum Day at The Williamson Museum
The museum will welcome guests to create animation-themed crafts and learn about Taylor-born Tex Avery, who helped bring characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig to life. The museum will also showcase its exhibit “Lights, Camera, Williamson County,” which highlights shows and movies filmed locally.
Mission in Motion
This new event is hosted by the city of Georgetown and the Downtown Georgetown Association. It aims to showcase nonprofits from across Williamson County by bringing them together in one place where they can share their missions, recruit volunteers, build awareness and connect with the community.
Georgetown Garden Show
Located in the Light & Waterworks District Plaza, the city of Georgetown event aims to celebrate the beauty of outdoor living. There will be live demonstrations and educational sessions on topics such as composting, tree planting, water conservation and beekeeping. Vendor booths will also sell plants, garden decor and other outdoor essentials.
GTX Film Festival
Happening at the Doug Smith Performance Center, admission includes an entire day of film, entry to the awards ceremony, and an after-party with food and refreshments.
National Night Out
Although the statewide event, which promotes neighborhood safety, doesn’t take place until October, registration is open through Sept. 28. Registering a block party provides information to the Georgetown Police Department so that they or other local law enforcement officers, elected officials, firefighters or emergency medical services personnel can come build relationships with the community.
