Georgetown ISD announced in an April 9 letter to parents that it will combine its breakfast and lunch meal distributions beginning April 14.
GISD Executive Director for Communications Melinda Brasher said the decision was made for multiple reasons including safety for everyone to have a once daily engagement in the community as they practice social distancing. She added that it is more efficient for families to pick up once daily, and it reduces the number of staff needed for distribution.
Students can pick up both breakfast and lunch between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the three meal-distribution sites, the letter said. Each person picking up meals will receive a hot lunch and a prepackaged breakfast intended for the following morning, it said. The district will no longer be serving breakfast separately each morning, it said.
The three meal-distribution sites are:
- Purl Elementary School, 1953 Maple St., Georgetown
- Frost Elementary School, 711 Lakeway Drive, Georgetown
- Tippit Middle School, 1601 Leander Road, Georgetown
