Williamson County partners with Family Emergency Room Round Rock and Cedar Park locations to ramp up coronavirus testing

Williamson County is working with Family Emergency Room LLC locations in Round Rock and Cedar Park to offer testing for the coronavirus, according to a May 1 news release.

The tests will be offered at 3620 E. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park, and 1925 A.W. Grimes Blvd., Round Rock, and are at no cost to the patient, the release said.

To be tested, residents of Williamson County access a new online screening tool on the county’s website developed by the WCCHD, the release said. The screening tool is designed to ensure that tests are prioritized for those who most need them, it said. Williamson County residents can then be tested at either location but must be scheduled at www.wilco.org/coronavirus.

People can go to the assessment tool and begin making appointments May 1, officials said.

“I am pleased that through this public-private partnership, we are able to expand our testing capabilities for Williamson County residents,” County Judge Bill Gravell said in the release. “With several locations around the county offering free tests for people exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, we will be better able to detect and isolate positive cases, limiting the spread of the disease.”

On April 27, the Williamson County Commissioners Court agreed to provide an expanded number of tests and personal protection equipment to Family Emergency Room, which has six locations throughout Greater Austin, including Cedar Park and Round Rock, the release said.

Williamson County began offering free testing for those who show symptoms at one other location April 30.
