1. Construction underway on site of future Georgetown Texas Roadhouse
A Texas Roadhouse location remains planned for Georgetown, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. Community Impact previously reported on the project in September.
Construction was expected to begin in early 2026 with a projected completion date of September. There are no timeline updates at this time, according to a media representative for the company, although construction appears to be underway at the site.

2. Second HTeaO location opens in Georgetown
A second HTeaO location opened in Georgetown at the end of April.
The Westinghouse Road franchise is owned and operated by Marco Mussi.
The tea shop celebrated its grand opening alongside the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting April 30.

3. Georgetown officials update plans for Austin Avenue, University Avenue corridor
Georgetown officials and KPA Engineers updated the schematic design in late April for proposed changes to the Austin Avenue corridor, including portions of University Avenue and Seventh and Eighth streets.
The main changes include removing the median from the Myrtle Street and University Avenue intersection as well as adding left- and right-turn lanes, KPA Engineers Vice President Trae Sutton said.
“[This] opens up more traffic and allows traffic to get off University not just at Elm [Street], but at the first stop at Myrtle [Street],” Sutton said. “It’s a lot safer.”
Council members approved the changes to the schematic designs at an April 28 City Council meeting.

4. Georgetown residents to see utility rate increases Oct. 1
Georgetown utility customers will see increases to their water, wastewater and stormwater utility bills starting Oct. 1.
The increased rates will help address environmental compliance, population growth and capital improvement projects, city officials said at a May 26 City Council workshop.

5. Sun City breaks ground on 9-hole golf course
Officials with Sun City Texas Community Association and homebuilder PulteGroup celebrated the start of a project to construct the neighborhood’s first 9-hole golf course at a groundbreaking ceremony April 30.
The Den will be a short course near the White Wing Golf Club, featuring elevation changes, forced carries where the player must hit the ball over an object, and thick trees, Sun City Golf Director Zach Seith said.
Sun City golfers play about 155,000 rounds a year, or an average of 425 rounds a day, according to data provided by the Sun City Texas Community Association. The shorter course is ideal for residents who don’t have the time or the ability to play a full 18 holes, Seith said.
